dancing Meet this Year's Celebrity Dancers for the

2010 Dancing with the Stars of Mentoring.

Deb Gormley, Citizens Bank

The Director of Training for Citizens Bank, Deb Gormley has DebGbeen mentoring students for six years.  She was asked to be on the committee of last year's Dancing with the Stars of Mentoring Fun'raiser and had a great time, so she jumped at the opportunity to dance this year.  Deb has been having a lot of fun with her professional partner, Giancarlo.  "I am extremely competitive," she said, "by being in banking I have learned how to sell, and I hope we will be able to sell our dance and come out on top."  Deb feels that the most important thing at the end of the day will be raising money for the children that benefit from RIMP.  Deb's competitive nature will make this dance exciting to witness!

Jim Hummel, The Hummel Report

Meet our celebrity dancer, Jim Hummel, investigative reporter Jim Hummeland executive director of the "Hummel Report."  Jim got involved this year when asked by friend and former Dancing with the Stars of Mentoring participant Bob Weygand.  Jim feels mentoring is an important need in society today and the Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership's growth over the years, and the results produced by mentoring, speak for themselves.  Jim and his partner from the Dancin' Feelin' studio, Rachael Capodanno, have been working hard over the past weeks, trying to perfect their routine and bring some worthy competition to the night's festivities.  Jim's strategy for success is not to fall down, and according to him his competition better watch out.  Jim's enthusiasm and dedication to the Fun'raiser and what it promotes will surely make for a noteworthy and fun performance to watch.

Eva Mancuso, Hamel, Waxler, Allen and Collins

Trial attorney, Eva Mancuso is a Managing Partner at Hamel, Waxler, DWTS 2010 LogoAllen, and Collins. Eva became involved with Dancing with the Stars of Mentoring this year because it is a fun way to get involved with the Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership!  Eva believes mentoring is very important. Not only does she do it herself as a lawyer, but she also has encouraged her children to be involved with mentoring to give back to the community. When asked about her dancing strategy, Eva exclaimed that it is to win!  The energy she and her partner, Randy Deats, has is off the charts and and is sure to entertain you and your friends!

 Kate Nagle
Kate Nagle, Advocacy Solutions

Kate Nagle is the Executive Director of the Rhode Island Scholarship Alliance.  Kate decided to dance this year because she has been involved with the Fun’raiser in the past and thought that dancing “looked like such a blast.”  Kate hopes that her athletic background (Division One Field Hockey Championship in 2000), will translate onto the dance floor, but says the “jury’s still out on that.”  Kate has been involved with mentoring since she graduated college and believes that kids “love having someone in their life who’s there just for them, just to listen to them, be supportive, and of course, do fun things.”  Kate is a Big Sister now and loves the time she spends with her little.  Kate says, “Dancing has gone just swell so far, when I’m not stepping on David’s toes, or kicking him in the shins.  That man has an infinite amount of patience.”  Asked what her strategy for success is Kate said, “I’d tell you our strategy for success, but its top secret.”  Stay tuned!

Ron St. Pierre, Newstalk 630 WPRO and 99.7 FM

A broadcaster for WPRO-AM/99.7 FM as part of the Buddy rons new headshotCianci show, Ron St. Pierre became involved this year with Dancing with the Stars of Mentoring because he believes in RIMP's great work and that mentoring is an important way to support RI youth.  He is also a big fan of the TV show Dancing with the Stars; he's never missed an episode.  Ron is psyched to be learning a new skill.  He says, "mentoring is a worthy cause because it meant a lot to me growing up, in terms of who I emulated and looked up to."  He is having a great time with his professional partner, Kathy St. Jean and jokes, "I have the shoes of a dancer, not necessarily the feet yet," but he's working on it!  His strategy for success is to "beat the pants off of everybody."

Mike Weber
Mike Weber, City of Warwick

Mike Weber is Chief of the Highway Department in Warwick.  Mike was asked to dance this year and he enthusiastically agreed, saying “It's a great program to support, and for me, dancing is a challenge, and I’m not one to avoid a challenge.”  He feels mentoring is important because it gives adults an opportunity to set “a good example” for our youth.  Mike has enjoyed his time working with Deborah “very much!” and believes they have a great chance for success. He has no doubt in his mind that they will win!

Each "star of mentoring" has been paired with and coached by a professional dancer, through the generosity of Kathy St. Jean and Randy Deats and their staff from Dancin’ Feelin’.
