Question and Answer Sessions
will be offered at the RIMP office from 10-11am on the
following Tuesdays: August 31, September 14. If
you are thinking of attending, please RSVP to

appropriate date.

Question: How much
funding can my organization apply for?
Answer: Grants will
be awarded ranging from $2,000 - $20,000
Question: What is the
time period grantees will be able to use their grant
award?
Answer: The grant
award cycle will be from November 1, 2010 through
December 31, 2011.
Question: What kinds
of programs should apply? What if my program isn't
currently doing mentoring but we'd like to?
Answer: Existing RI mentoring
programs
that wish to expand and/or improve their
mentoring programs and organizations that want to start
new mentoring programs.
Applicants must be a 501(c) (3) or have a fiscal agent
such as a school department or non-profit.
Question: How does my
organization apply and when is the application due?
Answer:
Applicants must e-mail
a completed request for funds proposal which can be
found by

When will grantees be notified of receiving an
award?
Answer:
Awards
will be announced in October 2010. RI Mentoring
Partnership will post approved agencies on this website,
www.mentorRI.org
as soon as all agencies are personally notified
of a decision.
Question:
What kinds of things can programs use this
grant money for?
Answer:
Funds may be
applied to a variety of projects including e-mentoring,
mentor recruitment, program materials, program
activities, and employee time, as well as general
operating support. Funds may not be used for food
or special events, i.e., fundraising, recognition,
end-of-year parties, etc.
Question:
Can my organization apply for indirect costs?
Answer:
No, you cannot have indirect costs in the grant
application.
Question:
I'm having trouble with the PDF - is there
another way I can send our application?
Answer:
You can either print the PDF, write the answers
on it and then fill out the form online; you can type
your answers in a word document and then cut and paste
into the pdf; OR you can answer each question (please
use question headings) in a word document. All documents
need to be emailed.
Question:
Can my organization use grant money for travel
(nearby) to look at another program?
Answer:
Yes, your organization can use grant money for
travel (nearby) to look at another program.
Question:
Can my organization use grant money for
advertising to recruit mentors?
Answer:
Yes, your organization can use grant money for
advertising to recruit mentors.
Question:
Can my organization use grant money for
overhead of rent and program admin. support?
Answer:
Grant monies may not be used for indirect
costs, but may be used for staffing, including admin.
support.
Question:
If my organization wants to apply for funding
to do e-mentoring, we hear you have a program available
that we can use already?
Answer:
RIMP is currently using an e-mentoring program
that grantees will have access to. We have
approximately 100 total, statewide matches without cost;
additional matches are $60 per match if organizations
are interested in using this program or are calculating
funding costs. Specific match allowances will be based
on applications and need.
Question:
Do the number of characters really matter in my answers?
What about spaces?
Answer:
Yes, the number of characters really matter and
spaces count. Please make sure your answers do not
exceed the number of characters permitted.
